Ok, the turd is misbehaving on me. Got the "Service Rear Axle" complaint twice from my DIC on a trip to Tampa. I've also had what feels like engine stalls when I'm turning hard into a parking place. Feels like the power steering goes away for a split second and my V1 beeps and reloads it's startup sequence so I definitely had an engine interruption. It's done this 3 or 4 times now. Car has no other issues and drove down and back to Tampa (4 hours each way) with out incident. I don't like the stumbling crap. No CEL on the DIC.
I've a rather new battery in the car 06/2017. I don't feel the DieHard has croaked that quickly plus I hang the C-Tek on it every time I park in the garage.
I had some strange stuff going on with my and a new odyssey battery cured it. It may really be just the battery, or a loose cable. The only time I got the service rear axel was after I put on a new set of tires and wheels. That cured itself when I came back home and manually set the tpms sensors.
Dropped the car off today at the dealer. Service rep took my information and then casually commented that a radar detector wired into the system could be causing "Service rear axle". The hairs on the back of my neck stood straight up. My brain screamed, this is going to be a **** storm.
My reply was, "Sir, that's been on there for 4 years and hasn't caused any issues." I didn't have the heart to tell him that I also had a BlackVue camera, a Navtool front camera, a Smart Top, a ham radio, and a M2W box in the system too.
PREDICTION: Dealer is going to blame aftermarket electronic equipment for the DIC message and the engine stumbling. Pay us $150 please and thanks for stopping by. Ya'll come back and see us now, y'hear!
Note to self: Take meds and keep my BP down by not yelling!
What's that mantra stuff again? nommmm nommm nommmm nommmm

Had that happen to me - early on in my 2014 (around 5K on the car at the time) when I first started playing with AFM (Eco Mode). Was driving along, minding my own business, when I noticed a very obvious shudder and the Service Rear Axle displayed. I took it out of Eco Mode and things smoothed out. Never threw a CEL nor even a code of any kind (it was later checked). Took it to dealer and they found nothing. We all speculated it might have been a stuck solenoid in the AFM system.
That was the one and only time there was ever an issue with it, right up until I sold the car a week ago at 51K miles
Why not pull the battery and have your parts store test it? Relatively easy to rule out the battery.
A battery problem could be possible but I replaced the battery 13 months ago with a Die Hard AGM. I also put a battery maintainer on the battery every time I park the car in my garage.
A lot of things can cause service rear axle message to pop up. And it will happen with no code. So the dealer often will not find the reason even when it pops up while they are driving the car with the tech tool plugged in. Could be the new battery is faulty, but probably something else.
Got car back and it was battery related. It seems the installer at Sears that replaced my battery did not do a very good job of tightening the battery cable connector to the battery. That resulted in a loose battery cable and that was the "fix" for the "Service Rear Axle" code. Cable is tight and now all I can do is drive the car. It was noted that 28,092 miles on the OEM tires has thinned them out a bit but I declined the tire replacement offered by the dealer.
They only charged me $75 for the repair rather than the $150 to find and troubleshoot the problem.

Good day in Jacksonville!

Elmer, which dealer in Jacksonville? Thanks, David
Thanks. That’s where I’m taking delivery in a couple weeks. I live real close to George Moore and will go over and meet their service manager too at some point.
Glad you got it all sorted Elmer! I feared the worst knowing all the "add ons" you have in there lol
Yea, I'm a modding fool with my car. Service reps shouldn't make passing remarks to old folks. We get grumpy inside real quick. I still want to put a SC on the car but 51 years with the same wife and her saying been there done that (twice) is quite an issue to get around!
