C7 of Year Finalist (performance mods) 2019
Default First time modding C7 - Is this combo a good start?

I'm planning on modding my 2019 A8 Z06/Z07 for the first time. It's primarily street/highway driven so I don't want a 1000hp monster yet. Just something reliable and remaining street tolerable.

I really don't want to touch internals or add meth yet. No E85 - just straight pump gas

- CAI
- PTB
- Kong Ported Blower
- Lower pulley, Dry sump samper, idler kit
- Borla x-pipe
- Plugs/wires and all the other parts that come along with the above
- Engine and trans tune

On the fence with headers and full exhaust - I don't want it too loud.

Would you suggest thermal reduction plates, upgrade fuel system, lower t-stat? Other suggestions for a basic start?

I know I'll need to find a reputable shop and discuss my goals with them...anyone know any good shops in the Chicago burbs?

Headers with stock NPP will be very loud if run open valves. I love it, but not for the faint of heart. The borla xpipe will pick up a good increase in sound, not so much power. If you're not chasing every bit of HP, probably xpipe will be very good especially considering the cost difference.

Headers with the NPP will not be loud at all this other guy must not have headers & X pipe with the NPP on the car. Are lets say he has a c5 or the c6 in his mind on the sound.
I have LT headers NO cats at all with 3 inch mid pipe & aftermarket exhaust. If the car is not in track r sport mode it is almost as quite as stock.. Robert

As I said...open valves "ie pulled 42 fuse or mild/wild switch" will be loud with LT header and xpipe... have this set up. With using the NPP in the various modes...for sure much quieter. I switch mine to stealth on fire up so I don't wake a 1 mile radius of homes...then switch to full open (programmed into my garage remote visor buttons) once on the road. I get ZERO drone with full NPP, headers, 3" xpipe and NPP exhaust in full open. I love the set up. It can be stone cold quiet or full on NASCAR in open mode under WOT.
