not really a free mod as you need an alignment once it's dropped. I've done this to my C5 and C6 almost right away as the look of the stock generic height makes it look a bit like a 4x4.. Each car screwed out to the bottom of the stock setting and dropped the car an inch, which is just right. Really should do it to my C7 too.
I highly recommended it for aesthetics. I had my alignment checked at the dealership afterward, but no adjustment was necessary. I was parked next to a Z06 at a car show the other day and it looked like a 4x4 next to mine.
Each car's stock height varies from the factory. When I dropped mine on the stock bolts, 3 sides went down about 3/4 of an inch and 1 side went down only 1/2 inch. I went for an alignment afterwards and dialed the suspension specs back in. Just be prepared to possibly scrape the air dams more often over ramps and bumps
I lowered my GS Z07 on stock bolts but had to cut rear rubber stops to get the rear to try and level out with the front better. Looks much better than stock for sure.
I lowered mine with just under 400 miles on it, and it now has 8700 miles on it and no problems at all. My C6 was also lowered on stock bolts for a few years and no issues there either. I think the stock ride height is way too high and I love how mine sits now.

Curious about the best reference point to measure ride height from? I was thinking the bottom of the fender edge above each wheel.
