Default Jake Intake 30% Reduced Restriction Does What????

I purchased the Jake intake for a grand sport and now reading it only reduces air restriction by 30%. What exactly does that change for the air intake if horsepower is not changed. Thank you for any responses.

From what I hear, nothing. All gains in performance come from the reduced weight of your wallet. It looks cool, though.

General Motors LT1 intake for Camaros has a published 17% air intake restriction reduction and no published gains but coldairinduction ,com states independent dynos at 11rwhp and a high of 13rwhp so logic would say a 30% intake reduction of restriction would add a substantial number on a C7 Corvette .

There is a slight power increase but GM for whatever reason cannot advertise it. They have to stick to their approved EPAstandards and laws of being the vehicle manufacturer. The tune that comes with it changes the MAF calibration to keep the car compliant and does not lean out the fueling like you would see from a pro tune. I don't know for sure, but if GM repeats itself the tune would likely address a slight drivability change with the intake as well. 95% of people won't notice the change but some of those sticklers will notice the car behaves ever so slightly different.

Add a ported TB and a Corsa extreme mid pipe . You will have a smile on your face .

I have one of the Corvette air intakes and there is no tune that comes with it although even initial EPA documents said a MAF recalibration.would be part of the package. It is simply a true bolt on performance enhancement that is CARB certified and warranty compliant.

The wording is 30% reduction in restriction. If the restriction is low, then there is very little gain. As an extreme example, say the restriction is 1%, and the Jake intake reduces this to 0.7%, that's a 30% reduction in restriction, but the output is 100% minus the restriction. Assuming the restriction correlates to pressure drop, then the pressure out of the stock intake is 99% of the pressure before the stock intake, and the pressure out of the Jake intake is 99.3% of the pressure before the Jake intake, a gain in pressure of only 0.303%. GM mentions what appears to be the peak horsepower airflow in grams per second and the power gain in hp for the LT1: 350 g/s | 0 hp increase, LT4: 550 g/s | 11 hp increase from 650 to 661 (1.7% gain), LT5: 630 g/s | 17 hp increase from 755 to 772 (2.25% gain).
