Usually by the keys you keep on the FOB. The FOBs are not marked a specific number any more. If you use 1 FOB and set it up as the #1 driver, you'll need to differentiate the FOBs so as not to get the wrong one. Nothing worse than grabbing your wife's FOB and get compressed by the steering wheel as the seat adjusts. My wife has the FOB without any keys on it, the only way I can tell them apart.
I recently bought a 2015 Stingray convertible and I love it. How do I tell which key fob is which?
They both work normally as far as I know.

I've seen my dash flash FOB #1 and FOB #2 before but only if it is different from the last FOB that started the vehicle. For example, if you drive the car then park it and you are using FOB1 then you go get FOB2 and start the car, the dash should say FOB #2 is in the car. You know this actually happened so long ago that I'm wondering if it was a dream or if it was real. I think it was real lol.
when in this situation, go get in the car, set the seat far forward, then save on the door to the number 1 settings. Now, move the seat very far back and save that as the number 2 settings on the door. Turn off the car, take both fobs far away from the car, and bring only one of them back.
Get in the car, turn ignition on, and see which setting it goes to, forward or back? Verify the other fob works by doing the opposite.
It's likely that a used car may have only had one fob and a dealer programmed a third or fourth. Fobs 3 and 4 will not work with the memory settings, and when you use them, nothing will happen.
Yes, some cars will display on the dash, but I don't think I ever saw this on my 2015.
