Default Performance mods under $1K

I have a 14 z51 M7 with TSP longtubes no cats and a custom tune. Thinking about installing a cam (I know it’s a lot of work). This isn’t my daily so I can afford to have it down for a couple weeks while I semi pull the engine. Any other performance mods you can think of that would be worth while that are under $1K?

Intake, ported throttle body, ported intake manifold all come to mind.

Here is one considered by many as the best value Mod. It only takes 15 min to install, costs less than half of your budget, and feels like a million bucks.

Thanks,

A ported throttle body and intake really aren't going to make any noticeable increase in gains. You might see a few HP on the dyno but other than that, it's a waste of money IMHO. I paid $450 for a PTB and felt absolutely nothing compared to a stock one. Some people are able to feel a small difference in throttle response, but for the money you could just buy a Vitesse, or have your driver demand tables tuned which really is the best option for throttle response anyway.

Your best bang for your buck as far as performance for under $1,000 would be a cold air intake. For $1,000 you could get a CAI (they run about $600) and a short throw shifter (MGW - they run about $400) which will get you a good increase in both performance and feel. There's really nothing else in the $1,000 and below range that will do anything noticeable since you already have headers and a tune.

In all honesty, it would probably be cheaper (unless you're doing the labor yourself) but most certainly easier to install the LT4 supercharger on your car instead of going the cam route. There are usually always some for sale in the for sale section on here.

Good luck.

Some people, including myself, have been disappointed with ported throttle bodies (PTB) but there is a difference between porting and re-designing/modifying a throttle body (MTB).

Porting: Smoothing rough edges and polishing the inlet side of the body in the 25-35% throttle region, and hope that solves the response issues.

Modifying/Redesigning: Identify the target response curve, and shaping the throttle body to meet it.

The SE8223-100 MTB is our solution, and should not be included in the same bucket with PTB's. Check it out.
