I have posted this before. This is as bad as it gets. Dealership has me bring it in tomorrow, but since it happens randomly every half a dozen times, I am concerned it won't get fixed.
The latest......GM buy back was off the table......however the dealership stepped-up and offered to replace the car with the same identical car....the difference was set at $900. It is their problem now and I couldn’t be happier.

What would happen if you left your finger pressing on the start button while the engine was starting instead of removing it?

I was wondering the same thing. I hold my start button down a bit longer than the OP in the video. I hold it down until the engine starts to fire up just like I do with turn key ignition switches.
I tried every sonario.....including holding the starter button, pressing the brake peddle harder, cold start, warm start....when it happened none of that made a difference. After showing the mechanic and general manager, we all agreed, something was defiantly wrong. My guess was a bad starter because there were no error codes. It happened every 10 times or so, leading me to believe there was a bad spot in the starter/stator armature. Dealership is calling GM in to resolve the issue, but I had lost trust in this car. I hated crossing my fingers every time I hit the starter. I have owned several push button start cars and never experienced this......I do see your logic, but believe me I tried all that and more.

I’m glad the dealer stepped up for you and replaced the car.
