I had a 2008 C6 that I purchased new in 2008 without NAV. At the time a purchased a used NAV unit online and installed it in my C6 and had my dealership program it. Sold the C6 back in 2013 and just purchased a 2019 C7 Stingray without factory NAV. Was thinking about doing the same with the C7. Things have changed since 2008. Can it be done? Has anyone did this upgrade to their C7?
CarPlay or Andriod Auto works great for navigation to display on your infotainment screen if you have a compatible smartphone. Zero cost except phone data. Some like Waze better than factory Nav.
It can be done but it is expensive with limited success , there is a write up here in the forums
Or GOOGLE add Navigation to C7 , there are a lot of posts about installing a new $1,200.00 HMI unit but beware it causes other issues like interference with OnStar and icons like Pandora and other programs disappear from the screen
One guy started dealing with the vendor in NC , who's name escapes me at the moment, between the two of them they figured out the correct programming for the HMI unit
Its posted here on the Forums , I just can't put my finger on the link
Thanks for the info!!! I do have iPhone with unlimited data and familiar with Apple car Play and have used it before. I don't know what it is I just have this thing for factory NAV. However some say it is horrible compared to Car Play. I'll do a google search as suggested here and explore the possibility a little more. I certainly don't want to have other issues as a result of installing the factory unit either.
I wind up using the phone on a mount. Since you have to plug the car in and so on for Carplay anyway, it's not much different. I don't know that I'd jump through many expensive hoops just to have it on the car's screen instead of the phone.
Did it in my 2017 Z51 It is a fairly easy plug and play. You just have to swap out the IO5 module with a IO6 module which is located in the drivers side kick panel. A bit pricey 799 to 999.00 but was worth it
$800 Infotainement, switch out the I06 module , not a big deal. I have a 2018 and changed the module out right after purchase in December of last year. No issues and works with HUD.
Is that all that has to be swapped out is the module that you mention? What about the head unit in the dash that doesn't have to be replaced? Does it have to be programmed after the swapping of the module?

I see, I found the website that explains the upgrade. I see that the module is programmed to your car before they send it to you by you providing your VIN # when ordering the module. Pretty cool. I might just go for this upgrade! Thanks for all of the info!
