Default Rear wheel bearing replacement

Need to replace the rear wheel bearings on a 2017 C6 coupe. I watched a youtube video on this and the person doing the work used red loctite on the bolts attaching the bearing hub to the spindle. He also said there was a TSB that said to use red permatex gasket sealer when installing the axle nut and to let it cure for 24 hours. My 2008 shop manual does not direct the installer to do either the loctite or the permatex. Can anyone confirm that either of these are required?

The 2015 Service Manual says to use thread locker on the hub bolts. On axles with staked axle nuts it just directs the person doing the work to stake the nuts. It is mum on non staked axle nuts. I don't know if any C7 has non staked axle nuts. It seems they want the nut locked so if an axle nut can't be staked then I believe you would want to do something to keep the nut from coming loose. I don't know how the gasket sealer would work. The Nut has to be tightened to something like 184 lb ft and using gasket sealer on the threads would definitely change the friction enough that you could over tighten the nut.

2017 C6 Coupe? 2008 shop manual? You must mean a 2007 C6 Coupe? Either way good points from Bill as always.
