Default Which off-road x pipe?

Hi all,

i have been reading through historic posts about off road x pipes, specifically the borla one, part number 60547, then realised it’s discontinued. General feedback suggested the Corsa’s double helix option sounded a little quiet or quieter, due to its double x design.... so, now then what’s the best option for a bit of extra sound for an x pipe that removes the rear cats? I see a few out there but most threads online are about the old borla one!

thanks for any suggestions.

The Corsa is definitely not quiet. It changes the tone and makes a little more high pitched. It sounds fantastic to me and screams on WOT. I wouldn’t hesitate to give it a try.

I have run both the Borla and the Corsa. The Corsa is louder.

I was very happy with the construction and sound improvement with my Corsa. I had it on two cars and am selling it to a friend for his. Great mod for the price and ease of installation.

I went with the Corsa. Their products are known to be OEM-quality fit/finish. No issues with mine. Nice bump in volume with no need to tune the car and still completely quiet in touring mode.

But there is a thread here that people say they loose power with corsa vs even the stock pipe. I don’t personally know but its what I have read.

Yeah John... lots of different opinions, it’s why I wondered about any other make, but so far seems to be the corsa as everyone’s suggestion!

I went with Billy Boat as it’s an early single crossover, similar to the Borla and it appears quality, as others have said their mufflers are. I think information on them are limited because they are expensive and most go with the well known and cheaper Borla or Corsa. However, if you look there has been a few, with great reviews! Now that Borla is discontinued, I believe the Billy Boat will become more popular. Once I get mine installed and get some videos I will comment back! I got a great price from forum member Chip at CCA!

When you’re driving a 650hp, 650ft/lbs car, you will never notice a difference in 5hp or 5ft/lbs between X pipes. A couple guys have said 1/4 mile times were slower with Corsa by 0.1s or something like that. For street driving or even road course track use, it won’t matter because this mod is solely a sound change and possibly heat production change because the secondary cats are removed. Don’t lose the forest for the trees. Corsa and Borla X pipes are both awesome and since Corsa is the one that’s available, don’t hesitate to try it if you want a catless X pipe. I’m sure BB makes a great product too, but I have no experience with it. If I remember correctly it’s a 3” pipe with a single cross over so it’s like a Corsa/Borla hybrid. It would interesting hear, but knowing BB I’ll bet it’s like Borla which is typically old-school throaty V8.

Yea I have more than enough power, quite frankly on my daily drive to work and back I don’t really exceed 40! Which is fine by me lol. New car syndrome, don’t wanna go fast or get dirty! I just like loudness!

i’ve been searching but can’t I can’t find a YouTube clip of just a billy boat x pipe without there being additional work done.

I got the Borla just a couple months prior to them discontinuing it. At this time I wouldn’t hesitate to get the Corsa. They are both great mods.

Risky , it's just pipes ....do I have one , No but many use it now that the Borla is out of production , fits well sounds good and I have seen a few vendors selling the same pipe for much more . This was going to be my choice but I found a great deal on a borla

If you want to pay 500 bucks for pipes it's your progative

I ordered the Borla 60547 back in December when it was first announced by Borla that they were discontinuing it for my C7 Grand Sport but, before I installed this, I traded the GS for a 2017 Z06 and am in the process of installing it now. There is a lot of positive feedback on this forum for the Borla x-pipe, so I am looking forward to getting this installed this weekend and seeing the results. I did a baseline dyno before this pipe and will do one post install to share.

You will love it. It was music to my ears after the install 👍🏻

I am running Agency Power 3" X-pipe which comes with resonators. Got it used from a friend

Been running it for about 2 months with no issues so far. My mechanic mentioned some minor fitment issues that were rectified during install

The Borla catless X pipe was never discontinued, that all turned out to be a BS internet story.
