My 2015 C7 Z06 will not start. the battery went down to 10 volts.
When I attempted to jump start with a lithium battery pack the alarm system went off.
I pressed the panic button and the alarm went off.
Now using a trickle charger (Battery Tender) the charger will not charge the battery.
When I attempt to start it from my Yukon nothing works (Dashboard won't light up when star button is pressed, radio, windows, door locks don't work, etc., etc. etc.)
The battery in the Vette reads 14 volts with.the cables on, and after 15 minutes with the cables removed the Vette battery reads 10 volts.
Almost seems like the security system needs to be reset.
Any and all suggestions will be appreciated
I would suspect if your battery drops off 4 volts without being connected you have a dead or shorted cell in your battery. If it is the original it is 4 years old and I have read that many need replacement at that age. The batteries in these cars are not overly large in order to save weight so tend to expire sooner than earlier models with more robust batteries.
Buy a new battery. You will need to reindex the windows after the battery is disconnected. If you live in an area that requires emissions testing you will need to drive the car for a couple weeks before the system is ready for testing.
After tightening the battery cables, I jump started the car and almost everything works fine now.
Volt meter reads 14 volts.
My only remaining problem now is the Security dash icon (yellow padlock) stays on. Any thoughts on how to turn it off? Security System reset?
I've tried many security resets for older corvettes without success, but can't find a procedure for the 2015 C7 Z06.
Try locking and unlocking the car several times with the fob and then a couple ignition cycles. This may reset the security alarm. Are there any messages on the DIC?
From 2015 manual:
The security light comes on in the instrument cluster if there is a problem with arming or disarming the theft-deterrent system. This light also comes on briefly when the engine is started. The system is automatically armed when the ignition is turned off.
Voltmeter 14 volts with the motor running is the charging voltage, not the battery voltage. This does not mean that the battery is good. Use a voltmeter and measure the battery voltage at the battery or fuse box with the motor off. And - even a battery that shows good voltage may fail under load.

Reason: .
Voltage at the battery is 12.2 volts
DIC message is: "SERVICE Theft Deterrent System"
Icon light and DIC message still on after a dozen locking & unlocking and restart cycles.
Next, I'll take it for a 1/2 ride to see if the resets the security system.
OK, the last thing you might try is to disconnect the battery for 30 min to reboot all of the computer modules. If this doesn't clear the security system you'll need to get some technical help. You will need to reindex the windows after reconnecting the battery (less banging of the glass if you lower the windows a bit before disconnecting the battery).
12.2 volts seems OK - mine reads 12.28 this morning - battery is less than a year old and car was driven yesterday.
Hey Ron,
The light is off and the DIC message is gone.
The battery disconnect and reconnect worked like a charm.
Thanks very much for your help and patience !
