A8 transmission shudder
I was trying to figure out,with all the info that is out there,why some get the dreaded shutter and others don't,even though the RPM variation is the same on both cars. My A8 has the RPM variation with the cruise control on. It varies about 100 RPM in V4 only at 60 MPH.I have no shudder. My question is does the flip flop in RPM causes the TQ lock up clutch to go bad over time or is a bad torque converter causing the flip flop in RPM? Is the flip flop of 100 RPM normal and the torque converter cant handle the engaging and disengaging of the torque converter clutch. By using the Ranger does this deter the engagement of the TQ clutch thus preventing the TQ failure? My last question is those of you that have the shudder, are your RPM's greater than 100 when in V4 going between 40-80 MPH? If so how much was it? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
