I just did a diagnostic at GM and this came back: "found torque tube front bearing walking back" and "excessive crank shaft end play"? Can anyone PLEASE explain this. I own a 2017 C7 grand sport. Yes newer car but voided my warranty because of mods 😫. Am I in the creek now with this issue? My car shakes before it can switch gears with a manual and even stopped in mid drive on the freeway. When I try to start it up, it cranks but doesn't kick over then eventually kills the battery after 2 or 3 tries. Please help.. GM is trying to make me change the whole engine with other things at $22k. That's ridiculous
Just curious, what mods do you have that killed your warranty? Usually dealer tells GM that a specific mod seems like the cause of the failure. Also, is this a manual or automatic car?
I removed the cats and did a muffler delete. I went to Rydell GM and they put a block on it and I didnt know. 2 days later i put everything back on stock and tried to get it cleared but the new Keyes GM saw the welds and officially declared my vin blocked in the system. They did say it was the reason but this is my 3rd vette from 2015 and all had this same mod with no issues. Now this... and they quote $22k
If the engine is dieing on the highway you most likely have a bad bearing which would be consistent with the excessive thrust play on the crank. Time for a new engine.
OP, these service bulletins may be relevant to your issue. I don't see how a possible assembly issue is related to exhaust system mods. Did you do any work on the clutch, torque tube, or transmission that would have disturbed the torque tube connection?

what is a block? How did the exhaust affect torque tube? How long ago did you do mods? Where were the welds?
Sorry i I have lots of questions , just want to be sure I don’t have the same thing happen if similar mods were done
For less than 22k you can get a bad *** build. Seems really shady that they would void the warranty over exhaust mods. Heck, I supercharged my stingray and they did the trans flush under warranty.
This thread has Deja Vu written all over it. If you take off the CATs, you need O2 sims, a tune or both. As in the other thread, was the tune touched? If so, the case is closed.
