Hello guys. I did search before creating a new thread but did not find the answer I was looking for.
Just got my C7 brand new and I feel the touch screen kind of "loose" when pressed. It is like there is a gap between the top transparent film and the back of the actual display. It is very minor but noticeable.
No, no protection film. Based on the two responses (thanks!) looks like it is not normal. Now I am thinking if it worth it a visit to the dealer once everything works perfectly but the “gap”. Maybe I will get used to it instead of having the dealers messing with it.
I don’t know if you’re used to other car’s touch screen or not...Or other touch screens in general.
When I first got my 2017 GS I was floored by how loose the touch screen is. There is definitely a lot more give in the screen than say, the touch screens on your average tablet and phones. Compared to touch screens on some rental cars I’ve gotten it’s got more give as well, but not much more.
it’s not a glass screen like a phone or tablet, nor a Tesla for sure. It feels like a LCD screen where the top layer is plastic or poly material rather than glass.
I find the touch screen on my 2019 to be very "tight" and requires a relatively hard touch to use. I experienced exactly the same thing with my 2015. I don't use it much so I really do not care. It may be because I am used to the FCA Uconnect 8.4 screens that are much more sensitive and easy to use.
I have a 2017 Stingray and the screen has a bit of play as the OP describes and I bought the car new and have no problems with the screen. Mileage is on car is 12,500. I only notice the play in the screen when it is off and I clean it while looking at it an angle. I consider this normal.
