Default Cam Idol question/concern

I recently had a cam installed in my 2015 C7. This is my first time doing a larger cam on a car and I have a couple questions/concerns. I went with a Stage 2.5 Texas Speed Cam. The car drives great and sounds great while moving. But at idol, the car can be very choppy at times. Sometimes at idol there’s a nice shake that lets you know there is a cam in the car. And I love that feeling. Then at other times there’s a much more aggressive shake that feels like an earthquake. I’ve also noticed that if my brake is not all the way to the floor at stops, my car will jump forward slightly. This also goes for when I’m ready to accel. Sometimes as I let off the brake, the car jumps forward. I’m fairly new to this. I wasn’t sure if this was due to a bad tune? Or if there could be any other issues? Or if this is just normal drivability with a larger cam in? Any insight to this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like you need a torque converter and maybe some tune work. Larger cams bring trade off's in low rpm driving. That's the nature of the beast. In any event, what you describe with the car lurching forward in idle is 100% indicative of needing a looser converter, probably in the 2,800-3,000 stall range, if I had to guess.

I agree with DRC767. Tune work and a stall. Too big of a cam on automatics typically require a stall.

The suggestions offered sound good. However, I would have thought your builder would have worked it out before turning the car over to you. I presume they had to have tuned it in some fashion, before considering it "done." Did they give you a summary of exactly what they did? Did they have any further recommendations? It seems to me that you should have gotten more info from the builder. In any event, all the best.
