Bluetooth connected for everything, mic doesnt work
Hey guys, so I picked up my 2018 GS zo7 today and its amazing. The only thing that doesnt seem to work is the microphone when I try to make calls or use the speech for GPS. I'm guessing the mic has been disabled somehow? Also on navigation it tells me no GPS and shows me somewhere I've never seen.
Anyone have these issues?
Thanks,
TK
Try voice command and see if the mic works. Push the steering wheel button and say something like "tune FM 103.2." If the system responds, the mic itself is working. As far as GPS - does the compass heading display below the right lower corner of the speedometer display and in the nav icon on the radio display? If not, or if it does not change, there is likely a gps antenna issue. May also be a red X across compass heading.
Both issues should be relatively minor for your dealer to solve.
Thanks Ron!
I tried it and no response so I'm guessing the mic isn't working.
Also there is a red X on GPS. I'm heading to the closest dealer to take a look.
I appreciate it!
I think my mike speaks Klingon! No matter what I ask it really tries to hold a long and detailed conversation that elicits a lot of "NO!, that is not correct" from me. I gave up on the Mike and me stuff!

Here's a relevant service bulletin. Don't know if this is the problem, or just a bad connection on the gps antenna located up under the rear view mirror trim. The mic is on the driver A pillar. I don't know if the antenna and mic have any cables or connectors in common...
Red X means satellites aren't connecting - no gps signal. Something is wrong with gps antenna, cable, or electronics.
I assume the red X is there when you are not in a garage or otherwise shielded from the sky. I would expect to find a sufficient number of satellites withing a couple minutes to make the X go away. You probably have to be moving to calculate a compass direction.
Mic is bad mic, bad connection, or bad electronics.
Not rocket science (or even satellite science). Just the basics of troubleshooting.

My 14's VR really sucked. But I gotta say my '19's VR works almost flawlessly!
