I purchased a new 2019 GS convertible a few weeks ago. The brake cooling ducts were in the trunk. I called the dealer service dept and they said they are only needed if you intend to track the car. Is that true? I seem to recall a video that Tadge was in that stated the ducts were meant to be installed by the dealer and did not specify for track only.
They are not to be installed if you are not going to track the car. Tadge said depending on driving conditions the ducts could prematurely wear the brakes.
If you are not going to track the car I do not think it is necessary, there are deflectors to cool the brakes as standard.
I put mine on using a lift and it is a bit of a jig saw puzzle.

Are they the same or similar ducts as are found on the Z51 package? How would more air to the brakes prematurely wear them?
The added brake ducts hang low under the car and can scoop grit and water into the brake rotors which will cause added wear. My 18 came with them in a bag. My 19 came with them installed, which was a mistake from the factory, but I don't care.
