Default E85 LT1 questions

I have a couple questions on E85 in the LT1. I've read several threads on it and see some conflicting answers in regards to injectors and alcohol percentages. My 14 has LT's, AFE, Ported TB and been tuned for E85.

1. What is the max alcohol % the stock injectors an handle? I've read 50% but I've seen people say they are running in the mid 60% range.
2. That 30% alcohol is more then enough and anything over that you're really not gaining.

Thanks,
Fred

I ran what was sold as full E85 with no issues on stock injectors. That was with the engine modified with Katechs cam and head package. Car was producing 515 whp. E85 contributed about 25 hp over 93 octane.

I test my local E85 at about %73. One station was %85.

With those mods you can easily run 85% ethanol. Do you have flex fuel? if not you should.

Max detonation resistance comes with an ethanol percentage around 50%. Anything over that is not really helping to make more power, but will allow the cylinders to be slihtly cooler which is not a bad thing. Plus it is much easier to simply pump a full tank of e85 over mixing a partial tank with 93.

subiework,
I do have the flex sensor. When car was tuned the sensor was reading alcohol at 45%. I mostly run the car between 30 & 40 percent alcohol and have no detonation and it runs strong. I did run 70% one time and the car would run fine during normal to a little aggressive driving but WOT it would start bog down at the upper RPM range when shifting like it wasn't getting enough fuel.

the 50% E info is for the LT4 engines with boost and stock fuel system. The NA LT1 can run 85% on stock injectors. If you were getting bogging or the car wasn't running right at wot on 70%+ E then its most likely a problem with the tuning.

Currently on stock fueling with BTR stage 2 cam 38% Lobe and Alky Meth kit.
Making 731whp with A&A blower.

I'd like to not rely on meth so I think I'll go pure 93 pump with meth to help cool and make about 650whp.

What all will I need to go e85 so I can ditch meth all together.

lt4 injectors, lt4 hpfp? Or will I also need an auxiliary low side pump?
Is my in tank pump enough?

If I can figure out what I need for e85 I could max this blower out close to 800whp (My block is build)

If you're going to say at that power level indefinitely then you can do a low side and lt4 pump and injectors and you can get away with full E. If you want more power then you'll need port injection.

Thank you!

If I end up doing a YSI head unit and try to make 900whp on this setup would that still be enough for e85 or would port injection be needed at that point?

Youd be able to run e50 ish with meth. If you want to remove your need for meth port injection is the only answer.

Thank you looks like I will stay away from the YSi for a while and enjoy 800whp on e85 and LT4 setup. Ill keep the meth for cooling purposes I guess.

Is the intank pump fine?

What is the recommended auxiliary pump setup?
