Default Do long tube headers require a different midpipe?

I'm considering getting an X pipe now to ditch the rear cats but I also want to do long tubes within the next year. Do they need special length mids or will they fit with stock length?

Most long tubes will need a new mid pipe made by the same manufacturer

But I am sure you will be able to sell your catless midpipe

ARH Midlength headers will fit any OEM style Xpipe. I ran ARH Mids and Borla catless X on my 2015 Z51 and it fit just like OEM. Any long tube header will need a non OEM X pipe which is typically supplied by the header manufacturer as mentioned above.

No tune needed? Any loss of power?

No tune needed with the midlength headers as it retains the factory O2 functionality as long as you get the catted version. However, as with any aftermarket piece, you are leaving power on the table without a tune. I can't say if it reduced power or not on the stock tune because I tuned my car for the headers. I didn't have to change any fueling but I did add timing in the mid range RPM area to take advantage of the additional exhaust scavenging. Based on that info, I would assume you would pick up power across the board in the stock calibration since fueling was pretty much unchanged.

If you get the Corsa mid now, you can get their headers later and it works together without modifications.

A Corsa won't work with like a Kooks or brands..

So are you saying the Corsa Headers would also bolt up to the OEM X pipe?

Not what I took from it. OP wants x-pipe now and headers later. Suggestion was to buy x-pipe now and same brand headers later.

If you buy "brand A" X pipe that bolts up to "brand A" headers, it will not bolt up to the OEM manifolds. So essentially you would buy an x pipe that you cannot use until you buy their matching headers. I don't think this is what the OP necessarily wanted to do. And the information provided with "buy a Corsa X Pipe" was quite ambiguous IMO. I was clarifying that he cannot just put this X pipe in the car without the headers. If you actually read the OP's post, his goal is to remove the rear cats only at this time.

Billy Boat and Corsa will hook up to your OEM x-pipe or any other x-pipe that replaces the OEM x-pipe. Only downside is none of them come with cats.
