Will be going to Carbotech™ 1521 - have a question
In a couple of months I plan on replacing the Brembo brake pads on my 2014 Z51 Vert. After a lot of research here I’ve decided to go with the Carbotech™ 1521 pads all the way around. I’ve got 20K miles on the car and don’t want to go through the trouble involved in removing the rotors. I’ve read that it’s a good idea to sand the rotor to prepare them for the pad change. Has anyone done this with the rotors still on the car? I could use a bit of guidance here on how to address the rotor sanding issue. I’ve done brake jobs a number of times so I’m sure I can handle the pad replacement as it looks pretty straight forward. My rotors appear to be in good condition so is it even necessary other than a good rotor clean up to do anything more?

To tell you the truth I wouldn't bother. Put the 1521s on and then drive the car and do the non Z07 brake burnishing. That will start to build up the transfer layer for the 1521s. A 25 or 30 miles of city traffic with stopping at traffic lights and stop signs will do the rest of the job.
