Default Tire wear pattern

Just wondering if you all are seeing similar wear patterns when tracking your GS. I’ve never had such an aggressive tire before, as the pilot super sports. The center of the tire “looks” worn compared to the outsides, but the grooves are also more shallow there. Not sure if it’s an optical illusion or if this is just what I should expect after two track days. Any hints would be appreciated!

The inside groove of the GS/Z06 PSS tire is 0.5/32 shallower than the outer and middle grooves when new. Alignment on the GS/Z06 is aggressive and skewed toward performance rather than good tire wear, not to mention the fact that the range we see from the factory is all over the map. I was getting more wear on the inside front tires because toe and negative camber were either out of spec or nearly so. I adjusted both closer to neutral and I think that will reduce tire wear, but I don't track the car.

I would have a good alignment shop check yours and then make a decision on what is more important, bleeding-edge handling or good tire wear. I chose the latter, but again this car will never see the track. There are many threads on alignment here and the general section.

My GS has DSC street/track alignment. I always run the tire at 26 psi ambient, and 34 psi right when I get off the track. The center of the tire appears to be a worn a bit more than the edges. 14 track days, and still has 4/32. I am burning through brake pads though.

Probably over inflation. Don't let it get about 34-35 hot psi.

Ah ok. Good point guys. I didn’t lower my pressure coming off the road and into the track day. So I was at 30 ambient for sure. But didn’t check on the track. Only paid attention to the tire temp. Rookie mistake for sure! I’ll bring it down next time. I’ll plan on just continuing to use these tires and try to get them worn more on the outside. Perhaps confined street driving helps with that as well...

I would do just as Spring Mountain and the OM recommend. Start the day with Cold Tire Pressure set at 26 psi and then adjust to keep hot pressure near 32/33 psi.

From The Track Events and Competitive Driving section the 2018 Corvette Owner's Manual (pages 158 and 159):
Load Limit
Z51 Performance Package Only:
Limit vehicle load to the driver only,
with no other cargo. Inflate tires to
180 kPa (26 psi) and drive at a
maximum speed of 280 km/h (174 mph).

Grand Sport and Z06 Only: Limit
vehicle load to the driver only, with
no other cargo. Inflate tires to
180 kPa (26 psi) and drive at a
maximum speed of 296 km/h (184 mph).

The C7 is the first car I have owned that really requires the owner to read and memorize certain sections of the OM especially the Track and Competitive Driving and Driver Mode Control sections.
