Default Questions about Alky kit

I purchased a modded C7 Z06 with a lot of engine mods (cam, blower, pulley, etc.), but I'll be honest.....I don't know much about these things. I love the power and sound of the full exhaust, and the car was exactly what I wanted. So yeah, I purchased it.

It has an Alky system installed also. I've been doing as much research on this whole water/methanol injection stuff since I purchased the car, but I want to be sure to take care of it, and not have something go wrong due to negligence.

Under the hood, on the drivers side, there is a lid with "Alkycontrol" on it, connected to a fat black tube running behind the drivers side fender. I assume that tube is connected to the meth tank? I can see the vacuum hoses? running from that direction which connects to the huge air intake. I have not found the Alky control box with the dial/test button or whatever. I assume it's behind the fender along with the tank? I agree that seems ridiculous. But I think I've looked everywhere that I know of and still cannot seem to find it. *EDIT* -- So it appears that it is using the Windshield Washer Fluid Reservoir. Still don't know how to determine if it's full, or what though.

The only feedback I have found so far is the little LED light that's mounted on the left side of the dash. It's a single light (I've seen pictures of dual lights?), that seems to light up red when I "kick it". I've only had the car a few days now, and haven't had a chance to drive it much, still getting used to it (it's a beast). But I "think" I saw it light up white at one point when I accelerated hard. Obviously I'm focusing on controlling the car and wasn't really paying attention to the light.

So, I'm asking for help with this from you experts. I have quite a few questions at this point.

1. How do I know when I need to "refuel" the meth?
2. Is it ok to drive the car if I run out of meth?
3. What is the little light telling me when it turns red (and perhaps white)?
4. What meth should I purchase? I've read that you want a ratio of half meth and half water, and obviously I should be able to mix it myself if needed.
5. If mixing, do I assume I need to use distilled water?
6. If I purchase it "premixed" is "Boost Juice" from Snow Performance sufficient and ok to use?
7. Dumb question -- I assume I pour the meth mixture into the fill spout named "Alky Control" under the hood? Do I just fill it until I can see it in the hose?
8. Any idea where the control box could be in my car?
9. Anything else you can tell me that would be helpful?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. I'm hoping to take it to a tuner shop next week to also ask these questions (as well as ton of others about the other mods), and maybe even dyno the car to see what kind of power it's producing.

I ultimately just want to take care of this badass machine. It is absolutely insane at this point.

1. if it's using your windshield wiper tank you washer fluid light should come on when its getting low.
2. Usually, but I wouldn't beat on it as they typically only activate when sensing a certain amount of air flow. Might be worth finding out if the tune is meth dependent.
3. When the light is red its not making good pressure. when it turns green it means the pump has good pressure. going from red to green quickly is normal.
4. I run 100% Renegade or VP methanol. Keep in mind 100% meth will shorten the lifespan on the pump so it would be advantageous to have a spare and know where your pump is currently located.
5. It definitely wouldn't hurt anything.
6. you could but it may not be as effective as just running straight methanol.
7. Its a safe bet that's where you put the alky. typically its either the washer tank if not mounted in the trunk.
8. Control box should be installed under the rear cargo floor.
9. I would go to you reputable tuner and let them run it on the dyno and let them educate you on your system and give further recommendations if any.

you can find replacement parts and information here

See this link

this should give you a good understanding on the kit installation and how to understand how it works.

I agree OP here if this was my car & like the first guy has said. If your car was meth tuned IF YOU get into boost really hard & for some time you could blow up your motor.. What ever that meth cap is for sure is where you do add the meth to..More than not it is the wash. The first guy gave you a lot of good info.. Robert

An update on my situation:

I've been able to verify the light does go RED, then immediately GREEN under hard acceleration. I've only seen this once however, due to the fact that any hard acceleration (to even test the LED) puts me into the 3 digit speeds. Car is CRAZY fast. lol

Getting it dyno'd tomorrow morning. But I suspect the alky kit is working as intended. I did order some "Boost Juice" by Snow Performance and filled up the "washer" tank (now Alky tank) with it. But at this rate because it seems to only spray under HARD acceleration, I'll probably never use the 4 gallons I purchased. I'm guessing if I can find the Alky controller module, then I can dial it back to a lower number, thereby allowing it to spray under much less boost. Of course, I'm not sure how that would affect the tune --- if the car was even tuned (yeah I don't even know that). I mean I assume it was, but who knows.

You need to find it look under your S/wheel some will mount it in that spot also. BUT 100% you need to have it tune & the tuner will tell you to keep it at that point all the time. ALSO if you look it will spray each & ever time you start the car. This will let it work so you can see that it is working. If that red light goes out something is wrong like the MIRCO switch has gone out in that box or the pump is not working no more..

You need to get you a spare pump now are at least close to two year with this one.. This pump will start to loose pressure after about 6 mons old & go down more & more with time... Tell your tuner to have the meth to kick in at around 3 lbs of boost.. That should put your setting on the box at least around 7 r 8.. Robert
