The $350 upgrade is only for cars that had MRC to begin with.

Adding MRC after the fact would be extremely complex. I'm someone who's not scared of messing with electronics, and I wouldn't even try it. Trade it in on an MRC equipped car. If you get a Z51 with MRC, you'll get the active rear differential and performance traction management as part of the package.

16-19 base models had optional MRC, but you don't get the eLSD and PTM in that combination.

Update only for cars with option. Not worth the effort to add in yourself. Better off trading in for a car that has it.

When did this upgrade come ? I have a 19 Stingray and I believe it should have it as the tour mode is very smooth and Sports is little tighter. Can I check if my car has the update?

ALL 2019s are upgraded. GM took the 2019 software and offered it to 14-18 owners as an upgrade.

The update is GMs excuse for the 100s of cracked rims from owners of the C7 GS/ZO6 cars. Particularly the rear 12in wide rims. GM refused to acknowledge their failure and blames the owner's driving habits. My rear rims are cracked also. GM currently has a class action lawsuit filed against them. So sneaky GM (out of all the updates that should be done, they chose a MAG ride update) came up with this new update and disguised it as a 'performance update' (warranty doesn't cover it). So GMs cracked rim work around is to make the suspension softer to prevent rim damage and at the same time rip off the owners for the update. Don't buy the update and demand you get it done for free or hold the dealership liable for your future cracked rims (if not cracked already), which can cause a major accident with injury/death and damage to property. I'm gonna keep riding on my cracked rims until I crash. And if I don't die, I'm gonna collect my FAT $$$$$$$$ settlement check from GM.

That has been debunked multiple times over. Changing the damping curve doesn't change how the rim and tire impact the road surface. You can't 'hold the dealership liable' either. They don't make the decisions on warranty coverage. GM corporate does.

I'm not saying the rims aren't poor quality. But blaming the MRC system is not the answer.

Completely untrue. The mag ride update makes a noticeable improvement in ride quality and has nothing to do with cracked rims. The force with which the tire/rim initially impacts can't be fixed by mag ride. While mag ride is an "active" suspension, it is more accurately a "reactive" suspension, meaning that it only adjusts damping after the initial movement. Truly "active" suspension could help with impacts on a tire/rim, but would require way more technology and be insanely expensive.

And FYI, I still had a Z51 rim crack even after the update.

That is whacked out reasoning. GM puts the effort into tuning the ESC to improve handling and ride comfort and you think it has something to do with cracked wheels. Just for your info there are a lot more owners that HAVE NOT Bent or Cracked their wheels than have done so, If there was a lot of owners having this problem it would really make a howling mess but there are only a few complaints on the forum.

You don't have to purchase the update and it sounds like it wouldn't make you happy anyways since it doesn't soften the ride. All it does is take out some of the harshness when hitting certain types of bumps. There are no calibration provisions for the types of bumps that bend wheels. You hit a pot hole and the wheel drops into it thus running head on into the other side of the pot hole. No way is the controller going to keep the wheel from dropping into a pot hole since even a wagon without suspension would have the wheel drop into the hole.

You can stamp your feet and scrunch your face into a grotesque mask like a three year old but the people you are appealing to will treat you like a three year old which means your protest falls on deaf ears. They know the update won't stop what you are attempting to stop and will not give it to you for free.

I recently had the mag ride update done, and it was worth every penny! Much smoother ride in Touring, and the bumps are much quieter too. Feels like a new ride!

If you have magride get the DSC Sport controller. Night and day difference in ride and handling.

I've been looking at the DSC Controller since my Viper days but since my '19 has the updated programming and the ride in all modes seems quite good, I wonder how much improvement the DSC is over the reprogrammed system. Which year Z and are you comparing the DSC to before of after GM's updates?

I have a 2019 Z06 and I also have the DSC Sport V4 controller. There was a substantial difference in handling noticed immediately. There's virtually no nose dive, roll, pitch, etc., under spirited driving on public/backroads at the speeds I was going. It is very, very confidence inspiring even on it's stock settings. Just make sure you get their street/track alignment along with it.

Sorry for reviewing an old post but I couldn’t find a clear answer. Does anyone know if ALL 2019s have this software update already or does it matter at which point in the year it was built?

The upgrade doesn't apply to the 19s. They were shipped from the factory with the improved calibrations. The upgrade just installed the latest calibrations on the earlier 14-17 cars. Instead of selling Customers a new car they provided new capability on already sold cars.
