My C7 would overheat but a restart would fix it. Sounds like had to be electrical but gm replaced water pump after all else failed. That took car of for a while but yesterday it overheated and lost the antifreeze. I refilled antifreeze this morning but soon as car was warming up antifreeze was coming out overflow, hoses up front feel cool and heater in car would only blow cold. WTH
Update :dealer charging 150 for diagnostic and said it was the valve on a heater hose on bottom of the coolant reservoir. They said 3hr fix and 800 bucks. The coolant wasn't that low and after a mile the of high temp it cooled back down until pulling into the dealer. Low coolant can't fix itself by a restart. But it took corporate involvement last time the dealer couldn't find anything playing musical part Change.

Pull the 190 out of it & put in a 170 then make sure you have no air pockets in the system. the 2014 was bad for the overheating. Robert
The fan/controller is a 1 piece item. Buy the fan and the controller is with it at the electric connection.
Also, until you get the fan replaced, the "fix" for the temperature spike is to get out of traffic, pull over, turn off the engine, open the door (To turn off the RAP) and then close it. Restart the engine and the fan will come on and cool the engine.

I agree. This seems to be a somewhat common problem on 2014s. A recurring overheating situation that is resolved by restarting the engine isn't caused by the thermostat.

I think the fan was running on high cause when I shut the car off it was running and sounded like I jet plane. The dealer had it a yr ago and said issue was original water pump and replaced it with newer style under warranty but now it did it again. I have an appointment today and fan won't be covered at 70k miles but if they don't find something I will replace the fan in my garage and see how that does. Thanks

Now you say I think the fan was running? The problem we are/were having was the fan would not kick on after driving on the highway and then coming into a traffic jam. Be sure you figure out if the fan is running or not running. If the fan is screaming, then it is trying to correct the temp spike. Our instances were NO FAN and the restart of the engine would get the fan to run and the temp would drop like a rock.

The fan was running after the restart or when I shut the car off it would run for a bit. I think the fan may have been off till the restart
