Today I swapped out my steering wheel for a custom one. I tested the wheel features and they worked fine.when I started my car, the information system is giving the following “service” notifications and all the steering wheel buttons don’t work now even tho I tested them?? Seems a little weird that all these features would turn off from a steering wheel swap.
power steering
rear axle system off
stebilitrak
safety restraint system
I did some searching online and didn’t find much and I don’t want to bring her to the dealer so I figured I’d ask here first, hopefully it’s a simple fix.
My first instinct is the spiral cable broke. Are you sure that the column didn’t get rotated when swapping the wheel? I re-read your post and this happened the second time you started it. Was the car moved or steering wheel turned before the second start up? If not then it’s not the spiral cable.
I did have some trouble with the spiral cable when putting it back together.... so unless I damaged it after the fact...
small update- I just started it again and the only service warning is the. Safety restraint warning is on. The horn doesn’t work and functionally of any steering wheel buttons
Update- it’s the data ribbon. It damaged some how. I can’t find any how too on replacing that or previous threads here. Does any one have any insight on replacing that? Or am I doomed to go to the dealer?
