Default Torque Terminology

Two quick questions and honestly I am not trying to over think this:
1, I am adding Z51 sway bars to my 2019 base Stingray and ran across a term I have not seen and could not find a reference to. For example, the info I found says to torque to the front insulator bushing to 50 Y (37 ft. lb.). I get the 37 ft. lb. but what does "50 Y" mean?
2. Next the documentation "Torque to 30 Y (22 ft. lb.) plus 50 degrees. I get the degree part but this "final" torque is less than the previous steps torque value. Is it calculated that 22 ft. lb. plus 50 degrees equals 37 ft. lb.?

Thanks for the lesson.

You need to post a scan of your documentation. GM uses N-m and lb-ft. Apparently "Y" means N-m. Part 2 makes no sense.

Okay, I checked the book. First pass 30 N-m (22 lb-ft). Second pass (45-60 degrees). Then check to verify that 50 N-m (37 lb-ft) has been achieved.

Thanks Laserdude. I got the information off of a couple of posts on this forum . I'm going to recheck my glasses and move on, but Y = N-m makes sense to me.

There was a post from Bill Dearborn that has the N-m spec, but I also found one from Theta that had the Y. For some reason when I read Bills post my eyes did not read what I saw. Still curious about the Y but it really does not matter.

Best to all.

It's aluminum, 40 lbs-ft is a safe number.

After removing and replacing the aluminum differential in my '82 C3 I understand, and I also know how to install helicoils….
