Default TPM issues

I had new tires and rims installed on my 2015 Z-51 last week. I took my Vette out for a road trip today and the low tire pressure idiot light went off about 25 miles into the trip. The message center said check tire monitor system after the idiot light went on. I scrolled down to display the tire pressures and only one of the proper pressures showed up, the rest were blank...knowing within reason that the odds were against having three brand new tires flat at once ...I continued to my destination....another 35 miles. Shut the car off and went inside the place...then when ready to go, I started it back up and the same thing happened, but when I scrolled down to take a look at the pressures again, the one that showed proper pressure before was out and the other three were indicating proper pressure of which were blank before...LOL! I pulled out and started the drive back home leaving the tire pressure screen on...and in about ten minutes all tires showed good pressure and the idiot light went out...ahhh...it fixed itself I said to my wife! LOL! ...not...in about another 20 minutes it went back to idiot light on and the original 3 tires showed blank with one good one again....then when almost back home it switched one more time...lengthy, yes I know...but when asking a question...there is never too much info to give before you ask opinions of others of higher intelligence. Before I ask...just one more thing...I had them reinstall the OEM TPM's in the new rims and Michelin all season 3 plus tires...Ok...Opinions??? other than the obvious return trip back to where the work was done...Thanks in advance!

When was the car originally put in service? I am not sure whether you had them install the original sensors when you say OEM or new OEM sensors. If you had them reuse the sensors originally delivered with the car It sounds like they may be starting to have battery issues. Usually sensor batteries last about 7 years before a sensor needs to be replaced. Flaky operation is an indication of a low battery.

However, if you had brand new OEM sensors installed there is something else wrong. The steel belts on some tires can cause sensor issues but I haven't heard of anybody having any such issues with the Michelin All Season tires.

Thanks for trying to help Bill. My vette is a 2015 and has around 25 k miles on it of which I have put 6 k on...I am not the original owner, so all I can say is that the sensors have not been changed under my ownership. The tires that came on the car were not original factory from new, but the same sizes and make and models...I could tell by the dates on the tires that someone had bought used rears and had them installed before they traded it in to my selling dealer or my dealership pulled a fast one before they sold the car to me. The tires were actually older than the model year by 2 years ish... I was planning on changing them as soon as I could afford it anyhow. The rims were original style and color, but again not sure if they were changed out at some point. The car appeared to have been tracked before it was traded in... to me...in my opinion...Oh well...no bad codes were evident before my purchase and it is designed to be tracked regardless...upon personal removal of the rims to refinish the rotor hats, I did notice and removed a good bit of rubber fragments on the rear fender liners...hence burn outs were carried out most likely by the previous unknown owner...I have a platinum warranty on the car with road hazard tire and wheel replacement...makes me wonder if they may be covered or considered a wearable item like the battery and breaks and tires themselves...the dealer did not do the new tire and rim work by the way. Just to make it quite clear, I did not have new tpm's put in when I made the switch...and the issues are not just with the rear sensors...it varies by sensor by day/ by drive...always seems like they are freaking out...but when they read, they read the correct pressure at 30 - 32 psi...I am taking it back to the provider and installer of the new tires and rims as soon as I am able to get a few hours of free time in my workweek...they have always treated me well...and for years and years...I was hoping that it may be something I could reset in order to avoid the inconvenience...OH well...
