Default Another Nav update question

I recently purchased a navigation update for my 2016 Stingray.
Are these thumb drives a one use item?
I'm not sure my nav updated correctly.
I tried to load it again and I get nothing from the thumb drive.
I tried it my 2018 Escalade and it didn't work either.
84667844 is the part number that I was sent.
TIA
Craig

It is set to your VIN. It cannot be used on any other car.

Did any response appear on the NAV screen? You started the car, put in the USB and got nothing?

I had to give them my vin number to order it.
No response at all.
Does this mean it updated correctly?

Ok, did you start the car and then put in the USB? The NAV screen will interact with you and ask if you want to do the update and other items of small talk. It takes nearly an hour to finish the update and a "Progress Bar" will gradually move over the screen until it gets to 100%.

Are you sure you gave them the correct VIN for your car?

Your part # is correct for your year.

Yes Sir.
I followed the instructions that came with the USB exactly.
I wasn't in the car after the update. I left the car running while I did something else.
When I came back the system was on with no messages.
Fairly recently street updates aren't showing on the maps.
So I thought I would try it again.
It does nothing when plugged in now.

Um... Did you stay long enough to answer the questions it posed on the screen? It asks if you want to update. It then tells you that "weather and Navigation" won't be available during the update. You reply Continue for the update to begin. At the end , the system will allow you to "Dismiss" after it says update complete. If you weren't there for that chat, the system will automatically reboot and the NAV map will come up.

So, did you at least get it started? If yes, then it is updated.

Not all "new" streets will be added to the update. It depends on the company (or government agency) that provides data to update maker. I had a Lexus owner buy a cd for the update, just to add his street, which was not in the original factory version. His street was not on the update two years later. It was not included in the data provided to Lexus. He was not happy and dealer refunded his money.

......and then there's that bit of fact. Sometimes updates to get a particular street added will be 2 -3 years later.

You can actually look in the NAV sreen and get the version of the MAP update that is installed on your car.

I suppose I now need to find the path for you to confirm the version that you are running in the NAV?

I'm going out to see if I can find the version of the update.

I'll check in after while with an update on the situation.

Thanks everyone.

* Go to Nav screen
* Select Settings
* Scroll to bottom of screen and select Software Information

Mine shows the 2019 update number for my 2014 MY Corvette.

Map: 84524520
Mine shows 84089010

Not the part number that I installed (84667844)

GM Navigation services said they have been having problems with the 84667844 completing the update.
The man also said that the old number would be showing in the settings not the new number.
Makes no sense to me.
I searched for the address located in the instructions. It came up no problem.
He says if it finds that street then it is updated.
The address is 1621 Woodward Ave. Detroit Michigan.
My 2016 found it easily. So I guess it updated.

When I bought the update for my 2014 a few years ago mine didn't work. Turned out I had a bad thumb drive. But it gave me some type of error message if I remember right. I called them and sent it back. They sent a new one that worked.
