Hey Guys,
Here's my situation, My 2017 GS stays in the garage on a battery tender, go to start it today and the car sends message Fob not recognized. I manage to start the car by putting the key fob in the steering column slot. Car runs fine. Go to dealership, he tests both my key Fobs and they both test good. Go to start car later in the afternoon and no problem, starts right up. I appears the car has an intermittent key fob recognition problem, dealer said it would be $135 to diagnose. Problem is, if it's an intermittent problem than how can they diagnose? The rep at the dealership said it could be numerous things causing this problem. Car is out of warranty and if it's going to be an expensive fix then I just assume trade it in or sell it. I had to trade in my C6 once it got out of warranty because of all the electrical problems it had. Appears the C7 is same. Sucks.
Before you do anything replace the batteries in the FOB's. If original batteries in FOB's it is time to replace them. Have had the same thing happen to my 2016, replace FOB batteries & issue went away, I am betting FOB batteries, you can get the battery at any drug store etc. Battery number is CR2032, easy to change. Dealer should have suggested the change first regardless of their test & I have doubts about their test of a FOB
