Anyone using this ? or any other device to prevent the v4 from kicking in ? Guy on youtube said the v4 set up almost ruined his car so hes using this , any thoughts or recommendations ? thanks
Wife's 2015 a8 had the shudder when going into v4 mode. Car was almost not drivable. Put a range device in and it completely fixed the issues. Going to have the trans fluid replaced asap then run the range from now on.
Yep, I put mine in the day I brought my new car home....2018 Z06, A8. It's worth every dime, believe me. Only word of caution is to buy this from the manufacturer. Do not fool around with Amazon or any other retailer, either discount or otherwise. This device has undergone several updates over the years and the one you buy from the manufacturer today, will be the latest and greatest. There have been numerous reports where the Amazon version was unknowingly an older model and the customers experienced problems. Buy it new at the factory and you will LOVE it!
By all means order the Range TODAY! This way you get the latest version and good customer support. Have had Range controllers in two different Corvettes for about three years, no regrets only smooth running 8 cylinder (the way they should be) Corvettes
I found a used one on Facebook Market Place for $75. It’s the current version offered by the manufacturer. If you find an out-of-date version, the manufacturer will update it free for the cost of shipping.

I don’t believe that’s true unless you were the original owner and bought it new. I heard they were not updating older models bought from Amazon. Good luck trying to get it done! A new one right out of the factory is under $200. I wouldn’t fool with a used one...all that trouble to save around $100?
I bought a Range direct from the manufacturer and installed on my 2019 GS A8 with less than 10 miles on the car. Wanted to preclude the shudder issue many on this forum have experienced, and couldn’t care less about the minimal gas saving benefit of V4 mode - especially at the apparent increase in transmission/TC issues.
The Range device should be the first “mod” any C7 A8 owner purchases.
Question
Can I use this module on different vehicles?
Answer
The module will work on any GM Active Fuel Management (AFM) equipped vehicle. It's not "locked" to a vehicle and you can move it between vehicles as needed.
One caveat, if you are using an early version of the module, you may need to return it to us to be updated to the latest version of firmware for the 2014/2015/2016 vehicles. It may work just fine, but if you encounter any SES lights on the vehicle, contact us for instructions on how to get your module updated. IT IS NOT NECESSARY FOR EARLIER YEARS.
Full Disclosure: the module I bought for $75 was the current version so the update wasn’t necessary.
And feel free to drop an extra hundred anytime, it’s just not my style.
