Default C7 magnetic ride control

Hello my name is Steffen,
I'm from Germany. The magnetic ride control does not work on my C7. When I change the different adjustments, the screen is changing the view in the selected modus. But neither the steering nor the shock absorbers change their setting ratio. I had also already set the basic settings. In my opinion the TOURING mode is always fixed and cannot changed.
Is there maybe a control box or something which is broken?
Anyone who has an idea or a tip?
Thanks in advance an BR
Steffen

On my C6s that had the Magnetic Ride Control, there wasn't a noticeable difference between the 2 rides unless you were on some rough pavement.

Wait for a moderator to move this thread to the C7 forum and maybe other C7 owners can help you with this.

Hi welcome. I've moved this to the c7 tech section. Lots of smart guys there. Make sure under settings, vehicle, steering is set to auto.

Are you sure your car has mag ride? Some c7s don't have it. (base model and some z51s).

Hi Bruno,
thanks moving into the tech section.
Yes, I am 100% sure. It's a European Stingray, with 19/18", big breaks and with magnetic ride...and other serial options for the European market...
In the last 3 years when I drove this car the system was perfect working.

The European C7 has 19" front and 20" rear wheels, if the 19/18" are the original wheels the car came with from the factory, then you don't have the European version.
Have you tried to aks your question on the German site (www.corvetteforum.de) ?
Although I think there is more knownledge on the US site, the language can form a substantial barrier.

The first question is does your car have magnetic ride control? If it is a Stingray without Z51 it more than likely doesn't have it. If it is a Z51 optioned car it might have it although not all Z51s were sold with the Magnetic Ride Control option.

If it is a 2014 through 2017 model you should be able to find GM's Regular Production Option codes that are shown on the RPO sticker. In 2018 or 2019 GM put that information online and there isn't a sticker any more. If your car has a sticker it will be located next to the rear electrical center which is accessed by carefully pulling up the rear cargo area carpet so you can see the electrical center in the middle of the area. The RPO sticker looks like this one which is from my car:

If you have a Stingray you will see FE2 for magnetic selective ride control. This option was only available with 19 inch front /20 inch rear wheels. You could also see FE4 which also includes BZ4 which is performance traction management. The wide body cars such as the GS and Z06 come with FE6 or FE7 codes which include magnetic selective ride control and PTM.

check your settings and make sure you are not locked to tour settings, although they should only affect steering and exhaust.

to be sure you have msc open the hood and see if you have wires on the top of the shocks.

While not entirely logical, try disconnecting the battery for 20 mins. This seems to fix many electrical gremlins. Also, its well known the C7 batteries can go bad after 3 years causing weird issues. You might want to consider replacing.

Look at the top of your shocks from the engine bay. If you see a black wire going into the top, you have MRC. Assuming you do, the MRC controller is behind the fender liner on the driver's side. If you search "DSC Controller", you'll find threads that show you how to access the factory controller.

Below is a pic of my GS. I circled the wire going to the shock.

Servus Götz,
sorry for the confusion, my fault. It has of corse 19" and 20" and it's definitively a European model (new car from Autohaus SteppeGermany).
Danke und Gruss

Yes, I disconnected the battery and also checked the fuses. But no positive result. So I assume that the control unit for the chassis and steering is defective ( I am sure that this must be the problem). Cylinder switch-off is ok and goes to V4. Exhaust flaps also work in Track mode. But suspension and steering is still in touring mode and to be honest, it is soft and indirect like a luxury steamer ( sorry to say this)
On Saturday I will have the error code read out.
