Default Gear Oil C7

Hi there
my transmission shifts hard, i have already tried redline D4 and royal purple it has not improved much. Has anyone tried the Ravenol MTF2 here and can say something about it?

The transmission should shift fine with the oil recommended in the owner's manual. If it still shifts hard, it might be that your clutch is dragging and needs an adjustment.

Two things to try:
1. Shifter alignment procedure (link below)
2. Clutch fluid flush

A correct C7 does NOT shift "hard." Not by a mile... if yours does, something is amiss, needing to be found and corrected. All the best.

Maybe not "hard" but I would call it "firm".

Depends on what you've driven before as a point of comparison. I feel the shifter effort could stand to be reduced on the C7. I learned to drive stick in the 80s using Hondas and they flip into gear with minimal effort. Later on I got a VW that had a very rubbery feel to its shifts. Then my Nissan had a very positive feel that went it with a snap. Ever car is different.

I test drove three C7s because based on the first one I thought something was wrong. Turns out it was totally normal... and I just had to get used to it.
