Default Looking for new exhaust

So I am looking to get some new Exhaust on the Z51. It has the NPP now but it is just not loud enough for my taste. Should I get a Corsa X pipe and leave the NPP's? Do I get an Xpipe and take the mufflers off? Corsa X pipe with Corsa Extreme? Long tubes with no cats through NPP's? It is tough to figure out by just listening to You Tube videos. Give me some feedback.

The x-pipe is easy and cheap, thus I would start there. I found it was perfect for me. However if its not loud enough then you can move onto swapping other parts of the system.

Personally I would not do anything that alters how the NPP functions. I put an aftermarket exhaust (cat back + muffler) in my previous car and there were times I wish I hadn't touched it. On long road trips loud can become pretty annoying.

Get an xpipe first, I was fortunate enough to get the Borla catless xpipe before they stopped selling them, sounded better but still not what I wanted so I went with Magnaflow comp exhaust and yep !!! Now it sounds like a Corvette should !!

yup...xpipe first and see where it gets you.

I have the car and with the xpipe my wife says it shakes the house in the am....granted i think i could always go louder but theres a fine balance between loud and obnoxious. Also, the good thing about the xpipe is that at normal throttle its not a whole lot different but when you get on it, it really opens up. I also added a vararam intake and love the combination of the "suck" sound with the xpipe...

Exactly what I have..with npp in tact...Vararam and X pipe love it! I have made several other thread responses in reference to this...AWE made my X pipe and that model is being forced to be discontinued by our lovely government just like the famed Borla...both with the rear pup cat delete...this type of rear pup cat delete x pipe is the only one in my opinion that makes sense in changing as a good sound advantage and very, very "slight if any" performance increase...Once again I state to those from AWE that may be monitoring this forum..I would among many others to purchase a touring axle back exhaust "with npp function" from them which they choose not to manufacture as if yet. Best of luck in your decisions...

I went with an x-pipe on my Z51 with the stock NPP exhaust. The car is definitely louder. With the NPP open it sounds awesome. I put on a Vararam Intake which also adds to the sound. I also have a switch to override the computer for the NPP exhaust. I've been really happy with this setup.

I started off with an x pipe and it wasn't enough after a couple months.

I feel like everyone eventually ends up upgrading their axle back portion as well.

I would suggest buying a Corsa midpipe as all midpipes have been discontinued and theres only a limited quantity available.

We can also get you pricing on axle backs.

Contact me for pricing on the Corsa midpipe!

I think the general consensus is to start with the X-pipe and go from there. I'm pretty sure when the time comes, that is what I will do.

I had the NPP on my 2014 Z51 but I soon swapped it for Corsa Sport and Corsa X-pipe.... I love it.... no need for NPP !!! But they might be getting hard to find! Good luck with what ever you come up with! CJ

Just get headers with an off-road x pipe, and an aftermarket NPP supporting axle back. You'll be able to turn it up and down.

Agree I did the LT headers with the AKRAPOVIC cat back with the same X-pipe with no cats. But if you go this way with the x pipe I had to cut the x pipe shorter & have a shop to do tig mig on this stuff and every one cant do that cost me 400.00 plus more just to get that done.

But this stuff is super lite can pick it all up with your small finger. Love the sound in TRACK mode. If you dont want to look at LT headers do the no cats with the Extreme set up on the mufflers. This will be your best for loud other than no mufflers at all & that is just to much if you do and road trips at all... Robert

Hey fellas. I just got a 2019 M7 ZO6 in October. I really want to put an x pipe on that deletes the secondary cats, but am not sure which one to get since the Borla is no longer available. From my research, it seems that was the best one.

Any opinions on which one out there is just as good, if not better?

Would cutting out the secondary cats and replacing with 2.75" pipe work just as well?

I’ve had my eye on the AWE and none other since the Borla went away

Thanks and I'm well aware of that. There are still some available on the forum from a supplier. But those suppliers are going fast

Had AWE x-pipe installed last week on factory car with NPP, as others have said it sounds great when you romp on it but only slightly deeper and louder at idle. Cold starts in the morning can be loud though, and i leave very early (sorry neighbors).

AWE does make a nice piece so get it while you can

Don't you think cutting out the secondary cats and replacing with pipe would work the same as purchasing an entire x-pipe?
