Looking for projects to do during my virus lock-in. Any body have any experience and feedback on the MGW shifter upgrade on a C7? I eliminated the CAGS 1-4 shift function but feel the factory shifter needs some work. Your input is appreciated. Thanks
Is there any reason to wait until the break in period is over before installing the shifter? Also, I consider myself to have beginner/intermediate mechanical ability (i.e. I've done brakes, oil/fluid changes, plugs, minor repairs). Is it too risky to attempt this shifter install myself?
I just did mine 2018 Z06, MGW with Stock ****. The difference is night and day. The "bolt action" analogy is spot on. For a driver car it makes the drive and shifts feel so much more confident and precise.
I watched a few videos on you tube plus the mgw videos prior to the install. It took about an hour and is worth every dollar.
So much easier to find reverse and 6-7.
Be careful following the instructions in the video regarding the console side trim. DO NOT remove it starting at the front. The video is wrong and they're written instructions tell you that but if you follow Youtube you risk breaking the plastic clips at the front of the piece.

Greetings,
WHAT - you haven't purchased one yet...my golly gee man, get it now. You will not regret your decision...takes shifting to the next level.
It's an improvement over stock. I like the Callaway a lot better. The tmod box may make enough difference that you don't need to switch shifters.
I did the Tmod lower shifter box on my C6 Z06 and never felt like I needed to do anything else. I’d expect the same with the C7, considering that it’s pretty much the same mechanism.

I talked about this in the install video I did. There are a few things missing from MGW's install video, but I worked with them to make sure everything was covered in one video for the C7 Corvette.
Without a doubt, the best mod I've done to my car to date. It feels a million times better to drive and it was already pretty great car to drive.

This is an interesting perspective! I have read awesome things about the MGW but I don't think my wife would appreciate the rigidity and awesomeness as much as I would. Perhaps the Tmod lower would be the middle ground?

I have the T-mod with a Callaway shifter. I think from what you're saying just the T-mod box would probably work best for you and your wife. If you get the T-mod box and that is not enough then you can add the Callaway to the T-mod box or remove the T-mod box and add an MGW shifter. The MGW is a stand alone shifter and doesn't use the box.
Just finished installing the MGW and it was easy. The hardest part was slipping the modified factory boot into the MGW bellows. Also did the Red Line D4 synthetic in the tranny. Wow car shifts silky smooth with much more ease. Probably the 2nd best mod behind my Soler TB and controller.
