Default Cam recommendation for Daily Driver

Hello all,

I am looking for some advice on aftermarket camshaft. I have a C7 Z06 w/intake and 18% overdrive. I want to move up to a more aggressive camshaft, but I don't want to sacrifice the daily drivability of my car. Can I get some recommendation on camshafts or general specs I should exceed if I am going to continue to daily drive my vette.

Side question.....Is doing the heads worth the power gain? I am on the fence about spending $1800 if the gain is marginal.

Any helpful information will be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Feel free to give us a call at the shop. We can get you a custom ground camshaft to fit your goal and also get you some extra fueling. We can also discuss the heads as well.

I hear it's not as cost efficient to go heads on the LT4, all things considered, although, a good set of heads will indeed net gains.

As far as cam, I second getting a custom cam, will work for your particular requirements with great gains.

Off the wall, might I suggest researching BTR Stage II cam, description on their site fits your goals very well, for a LS3..

Yes, I was implying that the BTR Stage II on the LS3 combo fits the goals, so researching an appropriate similar/like combo on the LT4..

My local speed shop recommends 219/235 @.050 .643/.657 Lift (1.8 rocker) 115 LSA grind.

Thoughts on this grind?

Any good PD blower cam should work great with your LT4 build. We have run the TSP stage 2 cam with nothing but solid numbers and happy customers. It has an excellent chop, great drivability and makes solid power. It pulls hard from idle all the way to 7k under boost. The heads are going to be worth an extra 25-30rwhp. That's not a lot of power for the money but if you're going for max power you'll regret not getting them done. Keep in mind if you're paying to have the cam put in the cost of installing the heads is already included. We can get a good deal on the cam right now if you're ready to order.

TSP? I would love to lean more if I can maintain my daily drivability.

Yes, OEM cams almost always intrinsically have lots of overhead built in - 'SI' or even 'SII' cams are fantastic for meeting driveability requirements
