Default C7 cooling system

When should I have the cooling system flushed and coolant replaced on my 2014 Stingray? It is 5.5 years old and has about 21,000 miles. Should the thermostat be replaced at the same time?

Dunno about the thermostat, but the recommended replacement interval on GM DexCool coolant is right around 5 years.

Need to do it now. Antifreeze protection degrades with age. DexCool is far better than the old Green Antifreeze but even the manufacturer says it is only good for 5 years (plus an indeterminate fudge factor). If the engine is maintaining it's temperature properly there is no need to change the thermostat. DexCool keeps the cooling system clean and if changed at the proper age the cooling system will stay in good shape for a long time. I have a 2003 Tahoe that I have owned since new. I changed the coolant in 2003, 2008, 2013 and in 2018. Other than changing the coolant I have not made any other changes to the cooling system. The original hoses are in great shape, the water pump is still going strong, the heaters work fine and the radiator is still in good shape. 124K miles on the vehicle. I keep wondering when the hoses are going to fail since I can remember back to the early 90s before DexCool and hoses would last from 2 to 3 years before needing replacement.

I flushed it at 5 years. Just following the book.
