My passenger side Tire Pressure Sensor reads lower than the rest of my tires. I thought that maybe I have the wheel crack issue so I went to DT and got the tires checked and filled. After filling the tires the tech told me that the initial pressure was about the same on all of the tires before filling. I got in the car and the pressure checked the same on all tires. Checked the readout this morning and the passenger side rear is reading low. Manually checked all 4 with a tire gage and they all read the same.
What I’m wondering is if the remote sensor might be bad or something. Any ideas or suggestion are welcome. Also, is this something that can be reset. I don’t know, all this electronics is great but sometimes it can be a bit of a pain. Have a great day!
How low is low? How much of a difference from the other readings? A pound or so difference is probably within the accuracy/resolution tolerances of the sensor.
I just read where the pressure sensors are only good for about 5 years. My Z is a 2015 and this could be part of the problem I guess. I’ll just keep checking the tire pressure the “old fashion way” every morning and maybe that will answer my question.
Typical battery life for the OEM sensors I have used over the years is about 7 years. Some might fail sooner and others might go longer. However, with a bad pressure warning another part of the sensor circuit might be giving false read outs because a resistance element is changing value thus causing a measurement error.
