Does anybody know what is the stock valvespring installed height? All the aftermarket post different installed heights. Comp and TSP 1.9
lingenfelter1.8 and so on. I would like to know the stock spring installed height.
I was actually looking at the psi 1515 beehives that can handle the .649 lift of my cam. But every body says to go duals that there is no advantage to singles. So I think Im going to go with the Lingenfelter kit
It depends on the open and closed seat pressure that the cam calls for. Duals isnt always the answer. They are tougher on lifters and valves and valve seats.
I thought that a lighter spring would be easier on valvetrain and allow you to rev higher. Katech is the only company I know of that uses beehives on all their cams except on the lingenfelter gt35 that they use on their 800 package they use the lingenfelter recommended duals. I called btr and asked them for a kit using psi beehives as soon as they heard my cam specs they said duals
I also read an article on ls1 tech wher the cam gurus said in their testing there was no advantage on using singles vs duals so they prefer duals for safety,
Brian Tooley, Pat G , Martin Smallwood and Tony Mamo all prefer duals unless the cam is under .600 lift
From all the data that I have seen the beehives and conical provide a lot more stability in the valve train. I haven't seen OEM use non beehive before either. Obviously if your just doing 1320 then it's no big deal. But road course work the duals will be more harsh. There are slow motion videos out there that show what each spring does at high RPM. The conical seems to be the best that out there now. No side effects it appears.
