I have a 2016 Stingray with AMF valves and no NPP. I recently ran across and bought and aftermarket exhaust w/out the AFM valves built into the exhaust pipes. I have read numerous threads that basically state you can relocate the valve and thus avoid to re-tuned the car.
My questions are...is the valve the butterfly valve within the existing exhaust and does this need to be cut out and remain electrically connected to the external components? or can one simply keep the external components connected and relocate them? Finally, does this actually work for any extended time or is it a short term band aid? I spoke to the tuner that did all my C5 work and he said he could tune out the AFM and any related CEL in an hour or so for $350.
Any assistance would be appreciated, as the search function has failed to provide me with the answers I am looking for. Thanks in advance.
Why not just cut the afm mounting and the section of pipe off the old system and have a muffler shop cut the new muffler pipe and weld it into place , hour job tops ...
The AFM actuators have to be plugged in , some have wrapped them in heat wrap and band clamped them to the pipe but to me that is jury rigging
