Default New engine at 62,000 miles

On highway 60 mph in 6th gear and engine quit running. Dealer says starter is in pieces. No other exterior damage obvious. No fluid leaks but says engine has no oil. No cel,oil pressure was good and temps never went over 190
always like to upgrade when things break
No blowers but any options for forged internals?
also probably makes sense to do the clutch while engine is out at 60k?
what say you all?

I say the dealer's communication skills need work. Let's start with a pictures of the starter and associated pieces.

You have a Z51 with a dry sump engine. I would say that dealer has NO CLUE about checking the oil level. My advice - take a trailer and bring the car home.

I agree the dealer needs to be shown the OM directions on how to check oil level including the operating temperature of the OIL not coolant.

What takes the starter out while you are driving down the road? If you have been doing a lot of track days the starter can fall apart due to the heat buildup. The starter on my C6Z failed due to too many track days, I pulled off the track and stopped the engine to talk to somebody in the paddock and when finished the engine wouldn't restart without push starting the car. Trailered it to the dealer and the mechanic said the field windings inside the starter just fell apart. GMPP paid for a new one and I was on my way.

Just back from the dealer
Catastrophic engine failure. No engine codes in memory
350 amp fuse at battry blown
no visable fluid leaks. The front facing oil drain plug drains oil normally The second plug to the side drains pure antifreeze. See pic attached. Flywheel only turns about 180 degrees then stops

i changed plugs and wires 2 weeks ago and disconnected only the negative battery terminal before messing with the underhood fuse box. Everything went back together without problem and staref right up as normal
Did I screw up the elrctronics? 250 trouble free miles after the plug change.
im at a loss to explain this. Is there a direct replacement crate motor available from GM performance? The ones ive seen are meant for pre 1976 installs.
Also car is at Lester Glenn chevy in Toms River NJ.
Can i trust them?

GET YOUR CAR OUT OF THERE! Get a car trailer from U-Haul load it up and take it to Kerbeck. Ask for Bob.Their service Dept. works on corvettes 7/24. I think they just might have more familiarity with this issue.

Same happened to me, driving down the road at 70 MPH , dropped a valve in #2 cylinder, all hell broke loose and also blew the fuse . Dealer at first tried to blame me for "hooking up a jump box wrong" said I blew all the modules ...

Read my Warranty RO below... , when they tried to start it the attitude changed real fast ... told me that it was good news that the motor blew

$14,000 warranty claim below by the time you roll in all the other costs
Good thing is , they really did a good job installing it

That looks very much like what happened to me. Seems a common issue.

Yep seems like these things like to eat valve springs every now and then and we are not alone as several others have reported the same issue.

Some got lucky and were at idle when the spring broke and then there are others that put a hole in their block and sprayed oil everywhere

They did a great job putting the new motor in and I am not to worried about popping another .... but it is odd as in all the high performance cars and boats I have owned, and its been a lot I have never had a car that popped a valve spring just driving down the highway
