2016 Z51 differential problems
I turned off the traction control and stability controls and proceeded to do a small burn out
it started out OK but then it felt like the car went into neutral then everything re-engaged something like two or three times then it re-engaged it hit very hard.
I slipped it into neutral and stopped. I put the transmission back in gear but I could tell that there was some sort of noise coming from either the transmission or the differential.
I put the car up on jackstands in the garage and when I start it and put it in gear either forward and backwards I can hear a big clunk sound. It sounds like the drivetrain could still be spinning a bit even though I have my foot on the brake. I can see the speedometer go up a 3-4 miles an hour while holding the brake.
with the car off and up on jack stands and with the transmission in park I am assuming that I should not be able to turn either wheel forward or backwards however I am able to turn the right wheel forward and backwards and once in a while I can feel something that feels like the gears engaging and disengaging.
my assumption is that the rear differential gears are wrecked but anybody have experience dealing with the differential and any suggestions on how I can determine what might have broken?
thanks!!

There are a ton of used replacements on EBay and depending on if u have ELSD or not they run anywhere from $1,000 to $1800 . Check check the part number and gear ratio for your car
AES on EBAY is a great source of used parts and they know how to pack them up so they arrive alive !
Its an easy replacement just a lot of bolts to be undone .....
