I drive a base 2017 A8 Stingray. This morning I was running it pretty hard and hit about 140 a couple times. The oil temp went up to about 220 and the coolant temp went to about about 200-205. I then got the Engine Coolant temp warning on my dash screen for a split second and it went away. Should I be worried about this?
I ran it again going home with the digital thermostats showing the numbers this time. Never went above 205 engine temp and 210 oil temp. About 98 degrees outside. Never got any kind of overheating notification. Maybe it was just a glitch?
Some '14s had fan relay / controller problems that would cause temp spikes so maybe your '17 suffered a similar problem. If it happens again restarting the car should provide a temporary fix. If it continues get a Z06 replacement fan. You can search the forum there are several topics regarding this issue.

Thst 14 glitch is driving at highway speeds and then hitting slow or stopped traffic and the fan wasn't coming on to do it's job. As long as the car is moving, there is no fan blowing, just the ait going through the radiator and that will keep the car cool. His numbers don't go high enough to get the message to show.
Maybe a sensor? Just watch the gauges and see if it returns.
