I did Texas Speed headers and x pipe. If you do them, you’ll also have to tune the car. I see you’re in Southern AR. If you don’t have something to tune the car or just don’t want to do it yourself, check out KK Performance in Little Rock.
I had a stage 1 performance kit from Vengeance Racing installed on my 2015 3LT Z51 Stingray convertible. The upgrades included:
- 1 7/8" Kooks Long-tube Headers
- High Flow Catted X-pipe
- Mighty Mouse Solutions Catch Can
- 180 degree thermostat
- upgraded spark plugs and racing wire harness
- Dyno Tune
Before these upgrades, the car's dyno results clocked in at 369 RWHP and 384 max torque. After the upgrades the RWHP increased to 415 and the torque went up to 437 ft-lbs.
So added 46HP at the wheels and 53ft-lbs of torque. Pretty decent bump in power. Would've probably gotten a bit more HP if I went with the off-road X-pipe but decided I did not want to deal with the emission issues or resell-ability that may come with doing that. Here's my dyno results if you're interested. The guys at Vengeance do incredible work. Can't say enough good things about them!
I went with ARH long-tubes/catted X-pipe, 160 thermostat, Soler ported throttle body, and Vararam cold air. Dyno tuned at Henderson in New Braunfels, TX. I absolutely love the sound of the car now. The hp gains are a bonus.

For those that have done headers, what are your thoughts on cats?
I would like cats to reduce the sound a little and the smell, but at what whp will they not hold up?
Any recommendations on heat shields for things like oil lines, oil filter, spark plug wires, starter, ect.?

I went with the high-flow catted x-pipe with my headers and I am very glad I did. It still sounds absolutely incredible, but doesn't have the drone at high speeds. There are four cats on the stock Vette and the Headers remove two of them already, so the x-pipe maintaining the high-flow cats still gives it the sound I want while also making me pass emissions. I also heard a catless C7 at the same shop where I had mine done and, side-by-side, there was very little difference. They sounded almost identical with the exception that I smelt the raw gas smell more on the completely catless vehicle. Stick with the cats on the x-pipe. Trust me!

I second the opinion on going with high flow cats. I had catless headers and x-pipe on my last car and went with cats on my c7 z06. Very happy with how quiet it is cruising on the highway and how it sounds when in the throttle.
