How is the rear transmission cooler fan turned on? Should it always be running or is it base on trans temp, coolant temp, etc.? Trying to figure out if mine is working or not.
It is temp, controlled and no it only runs at higher temps as in low speed or city driving.
while on the road my trans temps do not go over about 140 so it rarely runs

would you happen to know at what trans temp it turns on? Yesterday temperature was about 230ish driving around town.

My Procharged Stingray A8 trans will get that hot after 3-4 hard pulls. This would be after cruising around for a couple hours then making the pulls on the street. Hope someone can chime in for the answer to your question. I have a base Stingray not sure if that would have any difference ...

FSM doesn't provide any temps for when the fan turns on. However, the cooling fan description indicates they try to run the fan at slow speeds when the car is idling or running at slow speeds due to excessive noise in the passenger compartment. I imagine on a hot day with the transmission working hard pulling some sort of load the fan might run at a higher speed at low vehicle speeds. When the car is running at high speeds the fan speed set at it's highest. The only real way to know if it is working is on a hot day drive the car to get the trans temp up and then stop and put your hand behind the left rear cooling air outlet vent and see if you can feel any warm air moving past your hand. I suspect if the fan isn't working you will see a CEL or some other display telling you the trans is overheating.
Well I did dig into it a bit more. Here is what I found with HP tuners, apparently it can't be changed with HP so no listing as to turn on TEMP there. I did find a Max temp listed as 248 so it should be on at that temp.
Mine only seems to run in heavy traffic at slow speeds or parked.

Hmmm although my m7 trans doesn't overheat on track, it still gets hot because it doesn't cool enough between sessions . You did make me think of a good thing to try... Small 12v portable fan, stick it on the quarter panel vent between sessions. Idle the car for a few mins.

Save your money, there is no fluid flow when the diff isn’t moving so no real cooling unless your moving
Nice though though
DRM has an electric pump setup that might do the trick along with a fan like you mentioned
