Question about tire sizes
Hey Tadge,
I have a '16 M7SR daily driver with 65K miles. The front tires are 245/40-18 and the rears are 285/35-19. I am running Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires.
Now, to possibly soften the ride a bit I am thinking of going up to the next higher aspect ratio: 45 on front and 40 on rear. I'm pretty sure those sizes will still mount on the rims okay. And the car has quite a bit of clearance around the tires.
I'll gain a little less than 1/2" of side wall on the rear, and something else on the front. It might soften the ride a bit on the F'd-up San Diego streets.
I think it might throw the speedometer off a bit but maybe not much.
What do you think?
Dave

Melting Slicks
Look up tire/wheel calculator and plug in your changes, the results will tell you what to expect.

With my car lowered all the way on the rear I rubbed severely with 285/35r20 (same diameter as 285/40r19). Raised half way. Rubbed in any big dog still. Raised almost completely on bolts to eliminate rubbing. Speedo will be off about 3 mph at 70.
Fronts will be similar but not as bad.
