I'm trying to give my car a performance upgrade by getting a smaller lower blower pulley, dual fuel set up (meth) and a tune. Has anyone done something similar and what were the results?

I went more extreme but people have done what you’re talking about on a Zr1. It’s very expensive because of the tune but will yield results. Meth will be a must unless you run 100 octane. You may get better results in the Zr1 section. The pulley swap is easy. The meth is time consuming. Big key is a good tuner with experience on that car. Don’t trust a shop that hasn’t tuned one.

You might want to do a little more diligence here. You put on a BIGGER lower pulley to up the boost. A tune on a ZR1 is expensive, you need to get the ECM unlocked ($) before you even pay for a custom tune. A methanol injection system is not cheap either, and if it shuts off, breaks, or runs out of methanol...BOOM!

MY OPINION, only my opinion, the best performance upgrade you can do is tires to put down the stock power you have. Unless you are running 60 mph roll races you will just spin more with more power on stock tires.

However, I believe, the stock ZR1 will benefit from high octane fuel so race gas or a GOOD octane booster will add noticeable power.

Meth is not a must at all if he's just pulleying the car and tuning it. Headers, pulley, intake and tune will be fine on 93 without meth. the next step would be a cam, low side, and a bigger port injectors. That gets you well into the 900 wheel range. Meth isn't needed on a ZR1 until you get in the 1000 wheel range.

He won't be able to make the timing needed to get good power gains on 93 only with a pulley. Not to say he can't do it but it doesn't make sense. I don't run meth but have to run 100 to make the power i do. It can't be done without some way to keep your timing up.

800 rwhp is great power on 93. That's what the car will make. If the car is tuned the timing table will be modified from OEM to prevent timing being pulled in different spots. The OEM tune will pull timing if it sees a little rattle, but an aftermarket tune can prevent this some without turning down the knock sensors.
