Just bought a 2016 Stingray and I need some opinions on the Automatic Fuel Management. Should I get a tune or will I be ok to leave as is going from V8 to V4 mode?
If you are worried about the afm system buy a Range Technology device that plugs into your obd port. It prevents the car from going to v4 operation. always in v8 mode. Have used it in my '16 Stingray for 3 years with no problems. Just be sure to remove it prior to a dealer visit or a emissions test.
I was debating getting the plug in but wasn't sure if it would cause problems, do you have to unplug everytime or can you just leave it in? I only drive it about twice a week right now. Thanks for your opinion.
Plug it in and leave it. Drive the car and it stays in V8. Then there is the other option where the A8 AFM issue has been corrected by using the new ATF that GM is using. If that has been done, then you really don't need the Range unit unless you just don't want the car to go into V4. I've not had an issue in my A6 but the problem was focused on the A8s.
You can leave the Range in all the time. The power drain with current models is in the micro amp range. The other systems in the Vette are much more of a power drain. I always put my car on a battery tender if I know it will not be driven for 2 weeks or more.
