I have a 2019 corvette c7 stingray and purchased a dash cam with a low voltage protection hardware kit so that the cam can enable parking mode. I had a few cases last year where my battery would still die if I didnt drive it for more than 2 days or so and took it to the dealer, but they had told me that there were no issues with my battery. This year I'm having the same problems where if I dont drive my car for a few days the battery would die, but recently my battery died from not driving it just overnight. Anyone have any recommendations or know what the issue might be? Is this normal? Thanks!
Most dash cameras have a voltage protection where the camera shuts down after it drops below 11 volts.
As others suggested, just unplug it and see if it still starts. If not then you may have a battery cell taking a dump.
Sounds like the dashcam connection. It should have a shutoff when the battery reaches 12v. I have a BlackVue and it always shuts off and is connected to my OBD port.
You can also buy a separate LI battery that will run just the dash cam till this separate battery runs out of juice, and connect it to the ignition on lead so it only re-charges when the engine is running. It will never run out your primary battery. I have this setup Cellink NEO Battery.
