I got my Stingray last Dec and around Feb/Mar did the trans fluid change to the Redline D4. That really helped the cold 1-2 shift. But I still had too many problems getting it into first. I finally decided I might as well try doing the tech bulletin for checking the shifter adjustment. Got it apart and shoved the pin downward and tried to see if it would move any. It seemed pretty well aligned but then I realized that even though the two bolts were out that hold the basic box in position, the box didn't move. I started tugging on the shifter and POP it started moving. Apparently whatever coating is on the mating surfaces had stuck them together. My main goal was a better first engagement so the tiny bit of slop that is in the tube, after the housing box bolts are tight, but the tube clamp is still loose, I extended so I would get more movement of the rod towards the rear of the car (the direction it moves when going into first). It is only maybe 1/2MM but I figured every little bit would help. My problem always seemed that the shifter felt like it moved fully into first but that the trans was not fully into first. So it's been about a month and I am surprised this has really helped. I almost never have a problem w/ the trans not going into first and it seems like some of the other shifts are a little smoother and less notchy feeling.
BTW, I have always thought that the pop-up lighter thing was a waste but I could use a cubby to set things in. So, while I had the console apart, I removed the pop-up assembly. I lined the area under the open hole w/ black sticky back felt I got at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. This isn't somewhere to throw loose change or other small objects but it is great to stick sunglasses or my phone in while I have it cable connected to the car to use it's nav. I also plugged the cable into the usb port under the console lid. I ran it forward under the console top into the area where I now have the cubby. The cable is longer than needed so I coil it up and leave it in the cubby w/ just a couple of inches of the phone end visible. The cubby is also a spot to set my small spray bottle of hand sanitizer in. All in all getting the console apart ( I used a video on how to install an aftermarket shifter) enough to access the shifter was a little more complex than expected but it was worth while for sure.
