Default Looking at upgrades

Finally figured out a Z06 is not in my immediate future. For me it’s not a good time to buy at these prices (sigh). Looking at doing a couple of upgrades to my 2019 Stingray 1LT. It came with the NPP exhaust and I’ve added the HomeLink visor (Took longer to read the directions than do the upgrade). I also removed all the chrome as I like the basic lines of the car.

1.) I’m thinking of doing either the Z51 rotors or the full Z51 brake kit. I’ll never do a track day but I’d like to try my hand at Autocross. In addition, I think the stock rotors don’t match with the sporty looks of the Stingray.

2.) Lookin at upgrading the shocks to the B6 Bilsteins. I want a bit more control without making it uncomfortably stiff.

I’m going to have to get this done at a shop as I don’t have the expertise or the garage to do it myself. Anyone else made these changes? Any reason I wouldn’t want to do this other than it’s a stupid way to **** away money?..LOL.

For autocross I doubt the slightly bigger Z51 rotors would make a difference. The base and Z51 brakes use the same size pad, the larger rotor just provides more thermal mass for heat dissipation. Autocross runs are slower and shorter with more cool down time compared to full track HPDE events so I assume brake heat build up isn't a major issue. If you want ultimate brake performance (and looks) then might as well go for the GS / Z06 brakes and skip the middle tier Z51 parts.

Personally I wouldn't do any upgrades until you get a few events under your belt to identify gaps. Honestly you'll reap more benefits from different tires (check the regulations) and time behind the wheel.

Now if you haven't got an X-pipe its a good upgrade in making the NPP exhaust sound better.

Possibly add Z51 front and rear sway bars to go with new shocks. There is no rear sway bar on base Stingray.

I have the Z51 front and rear bars and all 4 Z51 shocks on mine. That got rid of the Buick float that came along once in a while w/o hurting the ride much. It works very well for AX. The bars and shocks are all about $85 each. And you need new rubber bushings for the front bar plus bushings, links, mounts and bolts for the new rear bar. That stuff is about a $100 so all together about $610 +tx+shipping. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
